Dorothy Louise Alberda

Dorothy Louise Alberda, age 98, of Le Sueur, MN passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, one day short of her 99th birthday. Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur, MN. Burial will take place at a later date in Lennox Cemetery, South Dakota. Lunch to follow the service in the church social hall. Dorothy was born on June 22, 1925 to Melvin and Gertrude Peterson in Fairview, South Dakota. She was baptized at her home in Fairview and was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fairview.

She graduated from Canton High School in 1943, and married Henry Alberda on August 3, 1945 in Oakland, California. Their marriage of 58 years was blessed with 3 children and many grandchildren. Dorothy was known to be an immaculate housekeeper and spent lots of time selling potato salad and baked beans. She worked at a Children’s Home in Sioux Falls, and most of all, was a great mother.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Dennis (Jan) Alberda of Oak Point, TX, Donnis (Darvin) Wicks of Le Sueur, MN, and Doug (Sp. Friend, Stacy) Alberda of Buckeye, AZ; grandchildren, Angela (Hugh Gower) Alberda, Chad (Erica) Alberda, Adam (Fiancé, Laura) Wicks, Aaron (Jessica) Wicks, Justin (Bethany) Wicks, Steph (Jason) Florey, and Tony Alberda, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Henry (2003).
