DPS Simulating Nuclear Incident in Monticello

(Learfield News/Monticello, MN) The Minnesota Department of Public Safety will simulate a nuclear incident today (Tuesday).

DPS will be joined by other state, county, and city agencies to participate in a simulated emergency at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant.

The annual exercise tests the capabilities of federal, state and local agencies in the event an incident does happen at the plant.

People living near the plant might see emergency responders in the area as they carry out duties during the exercise.

The exercise is slated to run from 8am to 5pm.
