Driver Collides with Construction Equipment in Carver County Crash

(Cologne, MN) A driver was seriously injured in a Carver County crash when authorities say the driver went around barricades and the vehicle collided with a parked piece of construction equipment early Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office says at about 12:30am, a deputy was patrolling a stretch of closed Highway 212 west of Cologne due to complaints of people driving around the barricades when he saw the damaged vehicle.

The driver was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis for treatment.

The State Patrol is handling the investigation and will release further information when available.

Authorities say this serves as a reminder that road closed signs, or barricades, are there for a reason and are not optional to obey.
