DRIVER ESCAPES VEHICLE AFTER IT BREAKS THROUGH ICE IN KANDIYOHI COUNTY

A Paynesville man was able to escape his vehicle after it broke through the ice at the Rush Brown Landing Public Water Access on the northeast shore of Green Lake Sunday evening at 7 pm.  Kandiyohi County deputies say 22-year-old Blake Hiltner was driving about 100 yards from the landing with the front end of the vehicle breaking through the ice.  Hiltner was able to get out through a window before the vehicle sank in about 8 feet of water.  Authorities say the location had 3 to 5 inches of ice and the area appeared to be a path that had been driven on numerous times in recent days.
