Driver Tased After Pursuit in Spicer

A driver was eventually tased and taken into custody after a slow-speed pursuit in Spicer Sunday evening.

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle due to the registered owner and driver having an active felony arrest warrant.

The vehicle pulled over initially however the driver would not exit the vehicle.

The pursuit continued and other deputies in the area deployed stop sticks causing both drivers side tires to deflate.

For safety reasons, the pursuit was called off but it was learned the suspect drove to the Saulsbury Beach parking lot and began walking towards the beach area.

As deputies approached him, he did not comply with verbal commands and continued to resist so a deputy used his taser and the suspect was taken into custody.

As a precaution, the suspect was taken to Rice CentraCare for evaluation and later transported to the Kandiyohi County jail.
