Eagles Regain Their Swagger as Hurts Shines in Victory Over Vikings
Despite a shaky start to the season and the absence of many ingredients that powered last year’s championship run, the Philadelphia Eagles never lost faith in themselves.
And on Sunday, they gave the doubters something to chew on.
Jalen Hurts delivered a reminder of his Super Bowl-caliber talent, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns to help snap the Eagles’ two-game skid with a hard-fought 28–22 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
“It’s not a time to wish or hope for something to happen,” said Hurts, who finished a near-flawless 19-of-23 with a perfect passer rating. “It’s a time to make it happen.”
Hurts ignited what had been a quiet aerial attack, connecting with A.J. Brown for two touchdowns and finding DeVonta Smith for a career-high 183 receiving yards, highlighted by a 79-yard score.
“It was only a matter of time,” Smith said. “We still have room to grow—there are definitely plays we left on the field.”
The Vikings (3–3) still had a chance late, but Hurts sealed the game in style. Facing third-and-9 at their own 44 with just under two minutes left and Minnesota holding two timeouts, Hurts uncorked a 45-yard deep ball that dropped perfectly into Brown’s arms. The play, a slick double move by Brown, burned former teammate Isaiah Rodgers—who also gave up Smith’s long touchdown.
Rookie Jalyx Hunt added to the highlight reel with a pick-six, helping the Eagles improve to 5–2 and reminding the league that this team isn’t going anywhere.
