Edwards scores 34, sets Timberwolves career 3-pointer record in 133-104 win over Denver
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Anthony Edwards delivered a standout performance, scoring 34 points and becoming the Minnesota Timberwolves’ all-time leader in 3-pointers, leading his team to a 133-104 win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. Edwards was efficient, hitting 14 of 23 shots, with 23 of his points coming in the second half as Minnesota pulled away after leading by 11 at halftime.
Julius Randle chipped in 21 points, while Rudy Gobert contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds to help secure the Timberwolves’ second consecutive victory. For Denver, Jamal Murray led the charge with 25 points, and Nikola Jokic posted a solid 20 points and 11 assists. However, Jokic’s three-rebound performance ended his streak of five straight triple-doubles.
Minnesota was dominant from the start, leading from the opening tip. They exploded for a season-high 40 points in the first quarter, shooting an impressive 69.2% (18 for 26) from the field. The Timberwolves finished the game shooting 55.8%, making 53 field goals, marking their second-best shooting percentage of the season.
The Nuggets, who had won six straight on the road and had the third-best road record in the Western Conference at 14-8, saw their five-game win streak come to an end. This loss marked the beginning of a five-game road trip for Denver.
Both teams will be back in action on Monday, with the Nuggets traveling to Chicago and the Timberwolves hosting Atlanta.
