Edwards scores 49 to lead Wolves over short-handed Bulls 127-108

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Anthony Edwards poured in 49 points, including 20 in the third quarter, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 127-108 victory over the shorthanded Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. Edwards knocked down six 3-pointers and finished an impressive 17-of-18 from the free-throw line, also contributing nine rebounds. His performance tied Kevin Garnett for the second-most 30-point games and Karl-Anthony Towns for the most 40-point games in Timberwolves history.

Naz Reid chipped in with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Rudy Gobert added a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

For Chicago, Coby White led with 20 points, and Nikola Vucevic contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Bulls were missing several key players due to a recent trade involving Zach LaVine, which sent him to Sacramento, while De’Aaron Fox moved from the Kings to San Antonio. Chicago was also without center Zach Collins, swingman Kevin Huerter, guard Tre Jones, and point guard Lonzo Ball, who is managing a left knee injury.

Despite Minnesota jumping to a 22-4 lead and holding a 21-point advantage midway through the first quarter, Chicago fought back on the second night of a back-to-back, having beaten Miami on Tuesday. Although the game was tough for both teams due to their short rosters, the Timberwolves were determined to bounce back after two straight losses to Washington and Sacramento.
