Emmer Supports Trump Plan to Shutdown U.S. Department of Education

(Learfield News/Washington, DC) — Minnesota Congressman Tom Emmer says he supports President Donald Trump’s desire to shut down the U.S. Department of Education.

The Sixth District Republican said, ” Our parents are the best educators we have. That needs to happen at the local level and really your State Department of Education should be nothing more than making sure that the different schools and the educators have the resources they need.”

Minnesota schools receive around one-billion dollars in funding annually from the federal government.
