Extra Enforcement From May 1st-September 2nd

Memorial Day through Labor Day are typically the most traveled days on Minnesota roads and nationwide. Nearly 300 agencies statewide will be participating in an extra enforcement campaign May 1st through September 2nd.

Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety director Mike Hanson advises planning ahead for the upcoming summer season and driving the speed limit. He says “you won’t get there faster if you’re in a fatal crash”.

The Office of Traffic Safety says so far in 2025, there have been at least 10 speed-related fatalities in Minnesota. Law enforcement will be focusing on the four behaviors that are the largest contributors to fatal crashes, which includes speeding, seat belt usage, impairment and distraction.
