Fatal Crash in Brown County

A driver and her passenger from Madelia died in a two-vehicle crash in Brown County Tuesday afternoon south of Searles.

The State Patrol says 75-year-old Ladonna Mikkelson and 83-year-old Charles Mikkelson died at the scene. The Patrol says they were in a van on Highway 15 and were stopped for road construction near 170th Street when they were rear-ended by a car.

The driver and two passengers in the car, all from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, were taken to Madelia Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened shortly before 1pm.
