FATAL RENVILLE COUNTY CRASH

A Cosmos man was killed in a one-vehicle crash about 11 miles north of Buffalo Lake Saturday evening.  The Renville and Meeker County Sheriff’s Offices were called to the crash at 8:41 pm.  The preliminary investigation shows that a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by 89-year-old Donald Deleeuw of Cosmos was travelling southbound on Meeker County Road 1, failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the ditch and overturned.  Deleeuw was killed.  His passenger, 90-year-old Burnice Deleeuw of  Cosmos was taken to Hutchinson Hospital with serious injuries.  The crash remains under investigation by the Renville County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
