Fatal Stearns County Farm Accident

A man is dead after being pinned under a large corn planter in Stearns County Tuesday evening, northeast of Brooten.

The Sheriff’s Office says two people were working on the planter, which was having hydraulic issues, when it’s believed the hydraulic system failed causing the planter to suddenly lower onto 46-year-old Eric Segaar of Brooten.

Emergency personnel freed Segaar from the planter and provided life saving measures but Segaar was pronounced dead at the scene.
