Fergus Falls Celebrating Welcoming Week

Fergus Falls is celebrating Welcoming Week this week, an annual campaign that invites communities around the globe to host events that deepen understanding and connection among community members. All events are free and open to the public.

“The Gathering at the River — a Multi-Cultural Potluck” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. tonight at Spies Riverfront Pavilion at 117 South Union Avenue in Fergus Falls. Attendees may bring a favorite ethnic food or family recipe, along with dinnerware and utensils. “We Stand For All: A Declaration on Display” will exhibit a Human Rights Declaration through Sunday at the Fergus Falls Public Library at 205 East Hampden Avenue. “Let the Games Begin” will feature Dr. Dan Ninham, Ph.D. and Susan Ninham discussing and demonstrating the talent and cultural significance of Indigenous Games, exploring sports and community health, from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Roosevelt Gym, 105 East Mount Faith in Fergus. Food trucks will be on site. And a craft activity to “Create Your Personal Welcoming Credo” on high-quality paper will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fergus Falls Public Library. The workshop is led by Victoria McWane-Creek, CEO of Organization 4 Full Participation and winner of the 2024 Minnesota Star Tribune Community Bridge Builder Award.
