Fever Wins Cup
The Minnesota Lynx blew an early 13-point lead at lost the W-N-B-A Commissioner’s Cup championship game to Indiana last night at the Target Center 74-59. The Lynx jumped out to a 27-13 lead in the second quarter before the visiting Fever went on a 34-7 run to close out the first half and start the second half. Indiana held a 48-34 lead in the third quarter at that point and really never looked back. Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve says the offense sputtered too much in this one.
Minnesota was led by Alanna Smith with 15 points, while star player Napheesa Collier was just 6-for-18 from the floor and scored 12 points. Indiana had five players in double figures with Natasha Howard scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Aliyah Boston had a double-double for the Fever with 12 points and 11 boards. Caitlin Clark did not play for Indiana in the game as she has a leg injury. The loss does not affect the regular season standings. The 14-2 Lynx host the Mystics tomorrow night at 7 P-M in downtown Minneapolis.
