Filip Gustavsson makes 20 saves in the Wild’s 4-0 victory over the Hurricanes

Filip Gustavsson recorded 20 saves to earn his third shutout of the season, while Marco Rossi contributed four assists as the Minnesota Wild triumphed over the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0 on Saturday night.

With the win, the Wild improved to 16-5-2 when scoring first this season. Mats Zuccarello gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead, firing a slap shot past Pyotr Kochetkov with 6:57 remaining in the first period. Zuccarello also assisted on Joel Eriksson Ek’s power-play goal in the second period, tipping it in. He capped off the night with an empty-net goal at 3:46 left in the game. Matt Boldy added another goal in the third.

Despite missing their top scorer Kirill Kaprizov (out for the fifth straight game due to a lower-body injury) and captain Jared Spurgeon (who will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a right leg injury), the short-handed Wild extended their win streak to three games.

Next up, the Wild will head back home to face St. Louis on Tuesday night, while the Hurricanes will host Pittsburgh on Sunday in the seventh game of 14 back-to-back sets this season.
