Former MNN & KSTP News Director Stan Turner Loses Cancer Battle

The Minnesota broadcast community is mourning the loss of longtime KSTP tv and Minnesota News Network News Director Stan Turner. Brent Palm has this tribute: “Stan Turner was Minnesota’s “anchorman” on KSTP tv in the 1980s. He was the first anchor on Hubbard Broadcasting’s All News Channel before joining us at MNN from 2004 to 2012. He had this to say when State Capitol Reporter Bill Werner retired last fall: “The boy is finally hanging it up. That’s hard to believe. I’m not sure the legislature can meet anymore without him around there. He’s just such a fixture.” Stan lost a three-year battle with cancer on Sunday at age 81.”

Turner was inducted into the Pavek Museum of Broadcasting’s Hall of Fame in 2009.
