FORMER SLEEPY EYE MAN SENTENCED IN DEATH OF SLEEPY EYE WOMAN

A former Sleepy Eye man accused in the death of a Sleepy Eye woman  was sentenced in Nicollet county District Court Monday.  39-year-old Casey Narvaez received a 79-month sentence – 52 months in prison and 27 months on supervised release in the death of 35-year-old Kayla Hulsey at  a Minnesota River boat ramp near Highway 4.  Authorities found Narvaez standing outside a vehicle with zip ties around his neck and found Hulsey’s body in the vehicle with zip ties around her neck too.  Narvaez told authorities that he and Hulsey had agreed to die together by suicide.  The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office ruled Hulsey’s death as asphyxia caused  by strangulation.
