Gaudreau Lifts Wild Past Bruins in Defensive Battle

ST. PAUL, MN – Frederick Gaudreau scored the lone goal of the game, and Filip Gustavsson made 28 saves to secure a 1-0 victory for the Minnesota Wild over the Boston Bruins on Sunday.

Gustavsson earned his fourth shutout of the season—and his first since January 4 against Carolina—helping Minnesota snap a three-game losing streak. On the other end, Boston’s Jeremy Swayman turned aside 21 shots, but the Bruins suffered their sixth loss in their last seven outings.

Gaudreau broke the deadlock at 5:01 of the second period, positioning himself in front of the net to redirect Marcus Johansson’s shot from the high slot past Swayman.

The Bruins were without captain and second-leading scorer Brad Marchand, who sustained an upper-body injury in Saturday’s win over Pittsburgh. With Boston locked in a tight playoff race, his absence adds to the team’s challenges.

Minnesota, missing superstar Kirill Kaprizov and other key players, continued to struggle offensively. However, the Wild’s penalty kill was perfect on two attempts, and their defense limited Boston’s scoring chances.

The Bruins pulled Swayman for an extra attacker with 1:44 remaining, but Minnesota held strong to preserve the shutout. Boston’s David Pastrnak saw his impressive 17-game point streak come to an end.
