GOOD THUNDER MAYOR PLACED ON PROBATION

The Mayor of Good Thunder has been placed on probation for a conviction connected to an investigation involving embezzlement of public funds.  68-year-old Robert John Anderson admitted to one of the gross misdemeanor charges in exchange for the dismissal of all the felony charges and the remaining gross misdemeanor offenses in a plea agreement announced Tuesday in Blue Earth County Court.  He was granted a stay of adjudication and was placed on supervised probation for two years and ordered to perform forty hours of community work service.  Anderson was arrested and charged in October 2022 after an investigation by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office indicating the Minnesota Auditor’s Office informed investigators about incidents of alleged financial conflicts of interest.   A search warrant was executed at Anderson’s home and documents were seized which led Anderson to being charged with felony embezzlement of public funds, theft and theft by swindle along with gross misdemeanor charges alleging interest and contract violations by a public official.
