Gopher FB Wins The Duke Mayo Bowl

Golden Gopher football won the Duke’s Mayo Bowl over Virginia Tech, 24-10 on Friday night in Charlotte, North Carolina. Max Brosmer threw for 211 yards and one touchdown, while Darius Taylor had one rushing touchdown and also threw a touchdown pass, and had 113 yards rushing. Elijah Spencer was named the game’s M-V-P — he had six catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Virginia Tech led 7-0 after the first quarter, but Minnesota scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to build up a 21-10 halftime lead. Minnesota had 403 yards of offense, while the defense held Virginia Tech to 223 yards. It’s the 8th-straight bowl win for Minnesota. Coach P-J Fleck improves to 6-0 in bowl games with the Gophers and received the traditional mayo plunge after the gasme. Minnesota finishes the season with an 8-5 record. The Gophers kick off the 2025 season on August 28th with a home game against Buffalo.
