Gopher Mens BB officially starts practice
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota men’s basketball team conducted its first official practice of the season yesterday. Head coach Niko Medved put his team through the workout at Williams Arena and says they will simply continue implementing their system as they did during summer practice sessions. Medved is entering his first season at the helm of the Golden Gophers with nearly an entire new roster. Only Cherry native Isaac Asuma played extensive minutes last season for the Gophers. Every other player on the roster is either a transfer or someone who did not play much a year ago. The Gophers host North Dakota State for an exhibition on October 16th before entertaining North Dakota for an exhibition on October 25th. The regular season opens on November 8th at home against Gardner Webb. The Big Ten slate begins December 3rd at home against Indiana.
