Gopher Volleyball season ends in Sweet 16
(Pittsburgh, PA/Minnesota News Network) — The season is over for the 17th-ranked Golden Gopher volleyball team after it was swept by fourth-rated Pittsburgh in the N-C-A-A Sweet 16 last night in Pittsburgh. Minnesota was led by Kelly Kinney and Carly Gilk, who each had nine kills. Stella Swenson registered 28 assists for the Golden Gophers. Minnesota finished the season at 24-10 after advancing to the Sweet 16 for the 21st time in program history. Pitt improved to 29-4 on the year and will take on Purdue tomorrow night for the right to go to the Final Four.
