Gopher WBB dominates North Dakota

(Minneapolis, MN) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team opened the season with a dominating 91-47 win over North Dakota at Williams Arena last night. Golden Gopher freshman Makena Christian came off the bench to score a game-high 23 points, hitting 5-of-12 shots from three-point range. Senior center Sophie Hart of Farmington added 16 points and seven rebounds in the win. Minnesota raced to an 11-point lead after one quarter and never looked back. Fighting Hawks sophomore forward Ava Miller of Rochester scored 11 points to lead U-N-D. The 1-0 Gophers will host Manhattan on Friday night at 7 P-M at The Barn, while the 0-1 Fighting Hawks will host Youngstown State on Friday at 7 P-M in Grand Forks.
