Gopher Women Blow Out Badgers

The 23rd-ranked Golden Gopher women’s basketball team got 15 points and 11 rebounds from junior forward Mallory Heyer of Chaska and beat Wisconsin yesterday at Williams Arena 71-50. Minnesota broke a 28-28 tied at halftime, outscoring the visiting Badgers 43-22 in the second half to earn the win. Sophomore guard Grace Grocholski (GRUH-hull-skee) scored a game-high 17 points, while junior center Sophie Hart of Farmington added 16 points. The Gophers improved to 18-3 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin dipped to 10-10 overall and 1-8 in the conference. Minnesota will visit fourth-rated U-S-C on Thursday night.
