Gopher Women Fall In Ann Arbor
The Golden Gopher women’s basketball lost at ninth-ranked Michigan 70-60 last night in Ann Arbor. Minnesota trailed by one-point heading into the fourth quarter before the host Wolverines outscored the Gophers 27-19. Gopher junior forward Grace Grocholski led the way with 22 points, shooting 8-for-15 from the floor. Minnesota committed ten turnovers in the first half and shot 16 fewer free throws then the Wolverines. Minnesota held a 12-point lead early in the second quarter before Michigan went on a 13-0 run to grab the advantage. Gopher head coach Dawn Plitzuweit says her team only shot 39-percent in the game.
The Gophers are now 10-4 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten. Michigan improved to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Minnesota will host Northwestern on Thursday night at Williams Arena at 7 P-M. The Wildcats lost to number-14 Iowa last night 67-58.
