Gopher Women Lose At Washington

(Seattle, WA/ Minnesota News Network) — Golden Gopher women’s basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit says her team had a “very little energy” and looked “lethargic” in last night’s 67-54 loss at Washington. Plitzuweit says she isn’t sure why there was a lack of “zip” from her team, but she says they have to regain it because that’s their identity. The Gophers jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the game, but then got outscored by 16 points in the second and third quarters. Minnesota guard Mara Braun of Wayzata led the way with 18 points. Senior guard Amaya Battle of Hopkins added a dozen points. The Gophers dropped to 12-6 overall and 3-4 in the Big Ten, while the host Huskies improved to 14-4 overall and 4-3 in the league. Minnesota will stay on the west coast and play at Washington on Wednesday night at 8 P-M.
