Gopher Women Pick Up Win in Tropics

The Golden Gopher women’s basketball team got back to the winner’s circle with a 57-45 win over South Florida at a tournament in the Bahamas yesterday. The Gophers never trailed in the game and led by as many as 19 points in the second half to move to 5-1 overall. Gopher head coach Dawn Plitzuweit says her team had to be tough to win this game.

Minnesota junior guard Grace Grocholski (gruh-HULL-skee) scored 14 points to lead the way, while senior center Sophie Hart had ten rebounds. The Gophers played without leading scorer Tori McKinney. Minnesota will play Alabama in the championship game of the event tomorrow at 3 P-M.
