Gopher Womens BB win, St. Thomas loses

(Eugene, OR/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team notched a much-needed road win last night at Oregon 65-60. The 13-6 Golden Gophers improved to 4-4 in the Big Ten after building a 13-point fourth quarter lead. Senior guard Amaya Battle of Hopkins led the way with 20 points, while junior Grace Grocholski added 19 points and six rebounds. The host Ducks rallied to within three-points late in the game, but Minnesota held on. Oregon fell to 14-7 overall and 2-6 in the Big Ten. The Gophers host Wisconsin on Sunday at Williams Arena at 2 P-M.

The St. Thomas women’s basketball team lost at home to North Dakota State last night 75-66, dropping to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in the Summit League. Tommies forward Alyssa Sand of Albany led the way with 20 points and ten rebounds. Junior forward Avery Koenen of Montevideo paced the visiting Bison with 18 points and 14 rebounds. N-D-S-U improved to 17-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The Tommies will host North Dakota on Saturday at 2 P-M at the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul.
