Gophers and Tommies get opening night wins
(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — Drake Lindsey, in his first collegiate start, led the Gophers to a 23-10 victory over Buffalo on Thursday night at Huntington Bank Stadium. Lindsey was 19-for-35 for 290 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. Gopher running back Darius Taylor ran for 141 yards on the ground. But it was Lindsey hitting Jalen Smith for a 60 yard connection to seal the win in the fourth quarter to finish off the scoring. The Gophers host Northwestern State at 11 A-M next Saturday, September 6th, as the non-conference schedule continues.
The Tommies put up 28 points in the second half as they pounded Lindenwood 35-13 in their season opener on Thursday night at O’Shaughnessy Stadium. QB Nate Glantz threw for 318 yards and a touchdown in the win. St. Thomas will be at Idaho on Saturday, September 6th for a 2 P-M kickoff.
