Gophers bring in Tar Heel transfer

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — University of Minnesota men’s basketball coach Niko Medved has added a transfer wing player from the University of North Carolina. Cade Tyson comes to the Golden Gophers after averaging 2.6 points per game for U-N-C a year ago. Prior to his one-year stint with the Tar Heels, Tyson was a standout at Belmont, where he was the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and a second-team all-conference pick as a sophomore. He averaged 16.2-points per game in the 2023-24 season with the Bruins. Tyson is from Monroe, North Carolina and will have one year of eligibility with Minnesota.
