Gophers part ways with Frost

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — The University of Minnesota has parted ways with highly successful women’s hockey coach Brad Frost after a tenth straight season without a national championship. Frost led the Golden Gopher to four nationals championships between 2012 and 2016. But, Wisconsin and Ohio State have dominated the women’s national title stage in recent years, claiming the past six championships between the two. Frost has a 556–131–43 career record and had taken Minnesota to 11 Frozen Fours in 19 seasons as a head coach. The Gophers lost to Northeastern in the national quarterfinals on Saturday. Gopher athletic director Mark Coyle released a statement thanking Frost for his work as head coach but Coyle stated “now is the right time for a new voice to lead our program.” A search begins immediately according to the release.
