Gophers Working On Sleep Patterns This Week

(Minneapolis, MN) — Golden Gopher head football coach P-J Fleck has his players practicing tonight to simulate the late start time of this Saturday’s game at California. Fleck says he has consulted with the school’s sleep experts and is doing what he can to best get his team ready to play two time zones away at a late hour. Fleck says they are trying to stay in Minnesota as long as they can and make the trip to Cal itself as short as they can. A Friday afternoon charter flight will help with that goal. Fleck says there are no guarantees that the extra preparation will give them a win, but he says he wants to take as much data as he can and get his team adjusted the best it can. Fleck says even the team flight out west will be handled with specific instructions on players getting rest and staying awake. Saturday’s kick off is 9:30 P-M, Minnesota time, which is part of why the team is going to efforts to get the players as ready to play late at night as possible. Both teams are 2-0 on the season after wins last Saturday.
