Griner Shines as Dream Snap Lynx’s Home Win Streak
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Brittney Griner scored a season-high 22 points, leading the Atlanta Dream to a 90–86 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night. The victory snapped the Lynx’s 15-game home winning streak — the longest in franchise history and the fourth-longest in WNBA history.
Atlanta shot the lights out, especially in the fourth quarter, where they hit their first six shots and made nine of their first ten. The Dream (15–10) built a 13-point lead with three minutes remaining, but Minnesota stormed back. Napheesa Collier’s basket with 11.3 seconds left cut the deficit to three before Jordin Canada sealed the win with a free throw at the 7-second mark.
Canada finished with 18 points, while Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Allisha Gray each added 12. Atlanta struggled in the third quarter, shooting just 5-for-20, allowing the Lynx to trim a 14-point halftime deficit to three. However, in the other three quarters, the Dream shot a blazing 71% (29-of-45).
Collier put up a monster performance for the Lynx (22–5), scoring 32 points on 14-of-18 shooting and adding eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks. Alanna Smith scored 12, Courtney Williams had 11, and Natisha Hiedeman chipped in 10.
Despite shooting 56% as a team, the Lynx couldn’t overcome Atlanta’s free-throw advantage and Collier’s lack of support in the clutch.
Minnesota wraps up its five-game homestand on Wednesday when the defending champion New York Liberty visit for the teams’ first meeting since last season’s WNBA Finals.
