Hanson named to Preseason Player of the Year watch list

(Minneapolis, MN/Minnesota News Network) — University of Minnesota senior Julia Hanson was named to the A-V-C-A Preseason Player of the Year Watch List. She’s one of 30 players nationally to receive the honor. In other Gopher volleyball news, senior outsides Julia Hanson and Mckenna Wucherer were named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. In the preseason rankings, the Golden Gophers were picked to finish fourth behind Nebraska, Penn State and Wisconsin. Minnesota finished the 2024 season with a 21-11 (13-7 Big Ten) record, advancing to the N-C-A-A Tournament’s Round of 32. The Gophers tied for sixth in the conference standings. Minnesota opens the 2025 season on Monday, Aug. 25 against Texas A&M in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Pentagon.
