His Majesty the King’s Guard Band and Drill Team of Norway Visiting MN
On Friday, His Majesty the King’s Guard Band and Drill Team of Norway will march from the Minnesota National Guard St. Paul Armory to the Minnesota State Capitol to perform at 12 p.m. a ceremonial display combining precision, tradition, and musical excellence in support of national defense and international military diplomacy.
His Majesty the King ́s Guard Band and Drill Team visits Minnesota as part of a trip to the United States where they also performed in Virginia and Washington, D.C. In Minnesota, they perform to commemorate the strong bonds and shared history between the two nations, including the 200-year anniversary of the first organized migration from Norway to North America when 52 Norwegians set sail on a ship on July 4, 1825.
While in Minnesota, His Majesty the King’s Guard will also perform a drill display and concert at St. Olaf College on May 10, a pre-game drill and ceremony performance before the Minnesota Twins’ May 10 game against the San Francisco Giants, and a drill display and concert at the Norway House in Minneapolis on May 11.
All are welcome to attend a performance by His Majesty The King’s Royal Guard Band and Drill Team of Norway. They will be coming to St. Olaf’s campus on Saturday, May 10 to commemorate 200 years of Norwegian history, culture and tradition in the United States. Experience a combination of music, formation and precision-drill from a wind band, a drum-and-bugle corms and a rifle drill platoon.
