HOMICIDE BEING INVESTIGATED IN MAPLETON

Authorities are investigating a homicide in Mapleton.  The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mapleton police department say just before 2:15 this (Tuesday) morning they were notified of a vehicle off the road on Highway 22 south of the Terrace View Golf Course.  Witnesses told authorities the driver left the vehicle and was walking north but law enforcement couldn’t locate him.  Deputies checked on the vehicle’s owner in Mapleton and discovered him dead inside his home with signs of trauma.  The person who owned the vehicle, who also lived in the home,  was eventually found and arrested on related charges.  Authorities say there is no threat to the public.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.  The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mapleton Police in the investigation.
