Hutchinson Approves Chicken Ordinance
The Hutchinson City Council Tuesday night approved an ordinance that will allow residents to raise chickens within city limits.
Although Councilor Pat May said he would vote no, he asked if the ordinance could be amended to grant permits immediately after the not yet produced educational video is ready for viewing, instead of three months from adoption, in order to allow residents to get permits quicker:
The ordinance was amended to be effective immediately after approval and publication and because watching the educational video is required as part of the permitting process, permits can be granted as soon as possible after the mandatory viewing by applicants.
The ordinance passed on a 4 to 1 vote.
