Ione Scott

Ione Scott, St. Hilaire, MN, 77, passed away on Friday May 10, 2024 at her residence.

 

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM Thursday, May 16, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Father Rick Lambert presiding.  Burial will be at Hansville Cemetery, Fosston MN at a later date.

 

Ione Lorraine Schultz was born December 24, 1946 at her Grandma Mary Vezina’s house in Fosston, MN, the daughter of Herbert O. and Mabel V. (Vezina) Schultz.  She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fosston, MN and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brooks, MN.

 

She attended 1st and 2nd grades at Fosston, MN, 3rd grade in Roseau, MN, 4th and 5th grades in Badger, MN, 6th grade in McIntosh, MN, 7th grade in Gonvick, MN while living in Fosston, MN, 8th grade in Brooks, MN, 9th grade in Plummer, MN and the rest of her high school years was spent in Thief River Falls, MN where she graduated Lincoln High School.

 

Ione was married to Donald Scott Jr., from 1969-1993 and they had two children together, Tracy and Nathan.

 

She was employed at Johnnie’s Café while in High School, then the Fashion Shop (where she received on-the-job training through the Vocational School) and a secretary at Arctic Enterprises. Ione also worked at Northwest Grain for many years and the Eagle’s Club in Thief River Falls.   She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, Thief River Falls, taught release class, was a Eucharistic Minister for church and the homebound, was a reader when attending St. Joseph Church in Red Lake Falls, MN.  She liked reading, crossword puzzles, TV crime shows, anything to do with Elvis, and Walker Texas Ranger.  Foremost she liked spending time with her children and grandchildren.

 

Ione is survived by children: Tracy (Michael) Bridges and Nathan (fiancé Susan Schaner) Scott; 5 grandchildren: Alexia, Megan and Mallory Scott and Victoria and Olivia Bridges; siblings: Ron (Carol) Schultz, Proctor, MN, Darlene Gregerson, Browerville, MN and Lori Tinoco, Superior, WI; and many other relatives and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Terry Schultz.
