James Abraham

James Abraham, age 91 of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, formerly of Wheaton, MN, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Visitation for James Abraham will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial for James Abraham will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN, with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant.

Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton, MN.

James was born on May 3, 1934, to Edward and Mary (McElwain) Abraham. He attended and graduated from Country School District 15. He attended Morris Ag School and then joined the U.S. Navy.

He spent the majority of his career in the U.S. NAVY. During his 1949 to 1952 Naval deployment, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and China Service Medal while on the USS Belle Grove. His occupation at this time was Assembler. In July of 1965, while on the USS CORRY, James was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Then in September of 1968, James received several awards: Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Award (second); Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars; Armed Forces Medal (Dominican Republic Operations); and Navy Achievement Medal. His occupation at that time was of Ammunition Foreman, aboard the USS DAVIDSON. In 1974 he received his Third Good Conduct Award and his occupation at that time was Ordanance Mechanic, aboard the USS DAVIDSON. Finally in 1978 he received the National Defense Service Medal and also his Fourth Good Conduct Award, while in Sasebo, Japan.

When James finally retired from the Navy, he moved back to Wheaton. He spent his time hunting, fishing and visiting with neighbors and friends.

James was survived by his brother: David Abraham and friend Rose Plocher of Wheaton, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Mary Abraham; brother: Vincent Abraham; sisters: Doris (Clarence) Johnson, Margaret (Dale) Sax, and Marie (Art) Olson.

Arrangements are with Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton, MN.
