Jeremy Swayman stops 35 shots as the Bruins shut out the Wild 3-0

BOSTON, MA – Charlie McAvoy reached a career milestone with his 299th point, scoring a goal in the second period as the Boston Bruins defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-0 on Tuesday night. Jeremy Swayman played a stellar game, stopping 35 shots to secure his third shutout of the season.

Trent Frederic added to the Bruins’ lead with a goal, and Morgan Geekie sealed the victory with an empty-netter in the final minute. Minnesota’s Marc-Andre Fleury made 32 saves, but despite the Wild’s efforts, they were unable to get anything past Swayman. This marked the second consecutive game that Minnesota was shut out.

The Bruins also welcomed back forward Mark Kastelic, who had been activated from injured reserve, making his first appearance since January 20th. On the Wild’s side, defenseman Jonas Brodin returned after missing 12 games due to a lower-body injury, and forward Marcus Johansson made his return after sitting out eight games with a concussion.

Minnesota, who came into the game with an NHL-best 20 road wins, dropped their second consecutive game after winning the first three of their five-game road trip. Meanwhile, the Bruins extended their win streak to two games and have won three of their last five, with just two games remaining before the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

Next up, the Wild will return home to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, while the Bruins will hit the road for a game against the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.
