JURY REACHES VERDICT IN COTTONWOOD COUNTY MURDER CASE
A jury in Cottonwood County has found No Name Given Happy guilty of two of the six felony counts he faces in the murder of a Windom man New Year’s Eve. The jury deliberated for just over two hours and found Happy guilty of second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony as well as one count of making terroristic threats. Happy was acquitted of second-degree murder with intent not premeditated, as well as two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of making threats of violence towards a peace officer. A judge granted the prosecution’s request that terms of Happy’s release be revoked and that he be remanded to the custody of the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office. Happy is accused of fatally stabbing 30-year-old Benjamin Matter of Windom at the Phat Pheasant Pub in Windom. Sentencing is scheduled for August 8.
