Kandiyohi County Deputy Will Not Face Charges In January Death

(Learfield News/Willmar, MN) — A Kandiyohi County deputy will not face criminal charges in connection with a death of a Willmar man in January.

Seventy-five-year-old Michael Yanacheak died after the deputy used a stun gun during an attempted eviction.

Yanacheak fell and hit his head, leading the medical examiner to declare his death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Kandiyohi County Attorney Shane Baker confirmed this week that Corporal Riley Kampsen was justified in using his Taser and will not face any charges.
