Kandiyohi County Poaching Complaint/Pursuit/Arrest

A Willmar man was arrested Thursday evening after authorities received a poaching complaint in Burbank Township reporting that a person had shot a deer from a truck on the roadway and driven off.

When authorities responded to the area, a truck fitting the suspect vehicle description sped past a deputy and a conservation officer. The truck did not have any lights on and was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a brief pursuit ensued which continued at speeds in excess of 100 mph for about 2 miles. The truck lost control on 255th Avenue East in Roseville Township and rolled multiple times.

The driver, a 37 year old Willmar man, was taken into custody and was transported to Paynesville Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending.
