Kirill Kaprizov scores twice to lead the Wild past the Flyers 4-1
ST. PAUL, MN – Kirill Kaprizov netted two goals, reaching the 20-goal mark for the season, as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Saturday. Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi also found the back of the net, while Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 20 of 21 shots, helping the Wild temporarily move into the league’s top spot with 44 points.
Samuel Ersson made 19 saves for the Flyers, who broke up Fleury’s shutout bid when Travis Sanheim scored with just under six minutes to go.
Kaprizov opened the scoring with a sharp-angle shot that deflected off Ersson’s helmet and into the net. He later sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 2:10 remaining. Boldy added a breakaway goal in the second period, and Rossi finished off a smooth 2-on-1 play with Mats Zuccarello, who made his return after missing 12 games due to a lower-body injury.
Next, the Wild will host Vegas on Sunday, while the Flyers will visit Detroit on Wednesday.
