LAST DAY FOR CITY, COUNTY FILINGS

It is the final day for candidates to file for city and county elections.  New Ulm City Councilors Andrea Boettger re-filed for councilor-at-large and David Christiann re-filed for Ward One.  New Ulm’s longest serving city councilor Les Schultz has announced he will not be running for the Ward 3 council seat.  He will remain a Ward 3 councilor through December and whoever is elected in November will assume the duties in January.  The candidate filing period for five Brown County positions ends today (Tuesday) as well.  Incumbent District 1 Commissioner David Borchert and District 3 Commissioner Scott A. Windschitl have both filed for re-election with no one filing to oppose them.  There are also openings for the Brown County Soil Water Supervisor Districts.  The cutoff for filing if you want to run for a position is 5 pm today (Tuesday).  Candidates for a county seat must file at the Brown County Courthouse, City council candidates can file at city hall.
