Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Kannegiesser
Larry Kannegiesser, age 98 of Cyrus, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, MN.
Visitation for Larry Kannegiesser will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, MN.
Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN.
Memorial services for Lawrence “Larry” E. Kannegiesser will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN, with Reverend Christopher Richards officiating.
Burial will be in Cyrus South Cemetery.
Lawrence “Larry” Eugene Kannegiesser was born on April 4, 1927 in Stevens County the son of John and Erna (Schwendemann) Kannegiesser. He was baptized at the Lutheran church in Hancock, MN. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church rural Starbuck MN. He attended school in Hancock and the Starbuck area.
He was united in marriage to Vernett Thompson on June 26, 1954, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN. To this union, two children were born, Tim and Pam. They lived on a farm south of Cyrus for 51 years before moving to a townhome in Morris and later to Holly Ridge in Starbuck where they currently reside.
Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus where he faithfully attended. He enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona for over 20 years, golfing, square dancing, watching western movies, his CASE tractors, watching his son and grandsons race and the occasional trip to the casino.
He is survived by his wife, Vernett Kannegiesser of Starbuck; children, Tim (Renee) Kannegiesser of Hancock and Pam (Rich) Hoddinott of Marietta, CA; grandchildren, Reed (Carlie) Kannegiesser of Morris, Cole (Ellie) Kannegiesser of Morris and Evan Hoddinott of Marietta, CA; brothers-in-law, Luther (Joyce) Thompson of Norcross and Donald (Rose) Thompson of Detroit Lakes and two great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Erna; brother: William; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kenneth (Lorraine) Thompson, Gordon (Esther) Thompson, Ruby (Del) Damsky, and Marilyn (Bennett “Buck”) Schaffer.
