Linda Schindler

Linda Bodell Schindler, 76, of Strandquist, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Linda was born on June 23, 1948, in Warren, Minnesota, to Frence Helmer and Agnes Florence (Hanson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church and attended school in Strandquist.

On May 14, 1967, she married John Lowell Bodell. After his passing, Linda later found love again and united in marriage with Fred Eugene Schindler on January 18, 2017. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her strength, work ethic, and kind heart.

She owned and operated the “Lumberjack Café” in Strandquist and later worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, where she was a valued employee for 27 years. Linda had a love for life and found joy in the great outdoors—especially hunting, fishing and camping, pontoon rides, snowmobiling, and side-by-side rides with family and friends. She was an active member of both the VFW Club and the Legion Club.

Linda is lovingly remembered by her husband, Fred Schindler; her children, John Shane Bodell, Michele (Mark) McCraw, and Mathew Schindler; grandchildren, Abby (Sam) Chisholm and Nikia Bodell; and great-grandchildren, Ivy and Mara Chisholm and Lincoln Love. She is also survived by siblings Lester Johnson, Luann (Kendal) McGlynn, and Larry (Judy) Johnson, brother-in-law Clifford Nelson, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bodell; her parents; and siblings Leroy Johnson, Lynette Nelson, and Frence Johnson Jr.

Linda’s warmth, wit, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Memorial service for Linda will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Stephanie White Officiating.

Visitation will be held starting at 12:30 PM before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery near Strandquist, MN. Celebration of life will continue at the Shack near Strandquist following the service  (16939 390th NW Strandquist, MN).
