MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO DROWN TWO NEW ULM WOMEN

A Shakopee man is accused of trying to drown two women in Otter Tail Lake Saturday.  42-year-old Franklin Michael Dickinson was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault charge in the case involving two family members from New Ulm.  Court documents say the Otter Tail Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call Saturday reporting Dickinson was intoxicated and attempted to drown two women in the lake.  Authorities say Dickinson held one woman under water for a long time and held the second woman under water after she went to the first woman’s assistance.  A neighbor’s son pulled Dickinson off the women.  Dickinson is in the Otter Tail County Jail.  Unconditional bail was set at $300,000, conditional bail at $150,000.  A court hearing is scheduled for September 15.
