Marlene M. Nye

Marlene M. Nye, age 86 of Henderson, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul's
United Church of Christ in Henderson, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the
service at church. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery, Henderson, MN.
Marlene was born August 18, 1939, to Malinda (Becker) and Ernest Selsvold of Truman,
Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont,
MN, and graduated from Truman High School in 1957.
She married William (Bill) Nye on February 5, 1965, at St. Paul United Church of Christ
(UCC) in Henderson, MN. Marlene worked at the Anchor Glass Factory in Shakopee,
where she and Bill met. Over the years, she also worked at the Foundry, Green Giant,
and MRE in Le Sueur, followed by The Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.
Marlene devoted her life to her home, her family, and the farm she shared with her
husband, Bill. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her care was
steady and generous through every season of life. She found joy in tending her garden
and in cooking and baking for others—fresh bread, sweet treats, and meals that brought
everyone together. She quietly supported the work of the farm, always making sure
those around her were cared for and well fed. Though the garden now rests and the
kitchen is quiet, Marlene’s love lives on in cherished memories and shared traditions.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Tammy) Nye, Carl (Dana) Nye, and Tammy
(Tom) Meyer, all of Henderson, MN; grandchildren Austin Nye, Megan (Danny) Nytes,
Ashley (Colin) Lyndorff, and Tiffany Meyer (Peter Schwartz); and great-grandchildren
Ella Nytes, Andrew Schwartz, and Emery Lyndorff. She is also survived by sisters-in-law
Bonnie Selsvold and Elaine (Nye) Nelson, brother-in-law Edward Nye, and many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Nye; her parents, Malinda
and Ernest Selsvold; her brothers, Robert (Bob) Selsvold and Eugene (Gene) Selsvold;
and her sister-in-law, Cass Selsvold.
